Welcome the the University of Bath Cycling Club, blazing a trail since 1997. New members to the club, please sign up with the site to use the forums.

The University of Bath Cycling Club is a club for every type of cyclist. Don't let the name fool you, we are not your average road club who just go out for a pootle on Sunday club runs, recently changed from being the Mountain Bike Club we know how to have fun too!
We have club XC, DH and road rides every Wednesday afternoon where we ride the best Bath has to offer and throughout the year venture further afield to pit ourselves against the rest of the countries trails!

Able to cater for all abilities we have a strong racing presence, currently acquiring a wealth of medals at BUSA, local and national competitions, ensuring the blue and yellow is often seen on the podium. We can also accommodate for those that see racing as a foreign concept, with all club rides going at a pace suitable for everyone!

Off the bike we like to have a club social or even combine the two to form the canal pub crawl, our fresher’s week event with a cycling twist. So what ever kind of cycling you’re into you'll be a welcome member of the club.

Join the club via www.bathstudent.com then join the forums.

Batharis
Hope everyone who came on the rides on Wednesday enjoyed themselves.

The club is running something we made up called the Batharis on Sunday. Its like a treasure hunt/orienteering on mountain bikes. Ollie and I are going to put notes around various trails in Bath with clues and you have to go and find them. We will give you a map showing roughly where they are and a few old members who know the trails will go around with the groups too, but its a great way of getting to know where the trails are and the weird names we have for them! You get points for getting the marks and the winners are the first back.

Meet at 1pm by the parade steps.

First ride of term
The first club rides of term will meet tomorrow at 2pm by the 25m at the top of campus. There will be a road, XC and DH run and we will go at the pace of the slowest rider so don't worry about your fitness!

The rides probably won't be more then 2 hours and you will need to wear a helmet, it would be good to bring a spare inner tube, multi-tool and maybe a bit of food too.

See you tomorrow!

Welcome
Welcome all freshers exploring the clubs the SA has to offer, you've come across one of the best! Look out for us at the sports fair on the 29th of September.

Returning members will notice the club has now officially changed to the Cycling Club so if you were looking on the SA to rejoin the club and were horrified to find it no longer exists, it does, but as the Cycling Club.

Still the same great club but now with a more fitting name.

New Sponsor
As some of you may be aware the guys at USE have kindly offered to give us a helping hand with some gear.

We can purcase parts at trade price from them. Shortly I will send round a price list for bits and bobs from their range.

Follow the link on the left of the page to check out their stuff.

Change of Sponsor
Incase you didn't know we've changed sponsors from MBUK to BikeRadar.com. Future own both brands, but it was decided that as the club is becoming more multi-discipline we should have a sponsor to match. http://www.bikeradar.com is an online magazine covering all the disciplines and all of Futures cycling publications.

We will soon have our own blog on the site to post news about the clubs activities.

The bike radar logo will feature on the new kit for which they have helped to subsidise!

BUSA cycling events
Cyclo-cross
The BUSA cyclo-cross is on the 3rd Feb in Swansea. If you are interested in racing then post on the forum. Depending on numbers we will either just go in cars or get uni transport.

Mountain Biking XC and DH
This will be in Cwn Carn (our home turf) on the 7-9th March. More details to follow, but definately a date to keep clear for some more Bath Uni domination of this event.

Wiggle Scheme
You may have noticed the large wiggle banner on the right...
Its the referral scheme where the club can get up to 10% on all orders!
You need to click on the banner and create an account (even if you have one already, recreate one, or we get no money) Then for the first 3 months, we get cash back on all your orders. (recreate after 3 months ) So get all your xmas present bought with wiggle. Pass the link to friends and family too. "http://www.wiggle.co.uk/default.asp?ReferID=bathunimtb"
As long as the link in your browser has "?ReferID=bathunimtb" in it when creating an account, we will make some money!

Never know, this might be able to pay for a trip at the end of the year - or for a fair few beers at the last social!
