About the Club

The Bath University Cycling Club is one of the longest running sports clubs at the university. Developed from the Mountain Bike Club and with around 50 members each year, we aim to be a club for all.

The club has weekly Wednesday afternoon cross-country, downhill and road rides which are social and cater to any rider who turns up. Throughout the year we run various trips to trail centres across the UK and trips to Newport Velodrome.

Racing

The club has a very strong racing scene. With no team as such we try avoid the intimidation found within many university sports teams. All riders are invited to race and the racing kit is available to all. We have developed complete racing novices to World class athletes.
The club has had constant success at student competitions, rarely missing a podium. Recent results include,

Gold Mens DH Championships

Silver Mens XCO Championships, Silver Team (Fastest 3)

Silver Womens XCO Championships, Gold Team

Silver Mens Road Race Championships

Our members are also prominent on the National and even International circuit. Several members also ride for prominent UK teams adding prestige to the club.

Social

The club has a strong social side, the emphasis on social rather than binge drinking. Many concrete friendships across all year groups have been formed through the club.

Our first social event of the year, the canal pub crawl, is a great success with freshers and members a like, a great twist between riding our bikes and socialising. Other events throughout the year range from cycling film premiers to lycra club nights. Along with this our riders are frequently invited back to the lead riders house for post-ride tea and cake and frequent post Wednesday ride socials happen throughout the year.
